Technopark Celebrates 20th Year

TechnoparkTechnopark, the first and largest IT Park in India celebrates its 20th year of existence. Technopark in Trivandrum, Kerala is home to about 185 companies and around 30,000 professionals. The decision to establish Technopark in Trivandrum was made in July 1990. The foundation stone was laid by the then Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri. E K Nayanar on 31st March 1991. Technopark was formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister P.V Narasimha Rao in  November 1995.

Technopark is one of the best investments made by the Government of Kerala. Initially the project was conceived to generate 5000 direct employments and 20000 indirect employments. Today the Technopark employs around 30,000 professionals directly and around 1 Lakh people indirectly. Technopark campus is the place in Kerala where most number of people employed in a single campus. MNCs entry into Kerala was through Technopark.  Well known MNCs like Ernst & Young, Allianz Cornhill and UST Global have their operations in Technopark.

India’s first and second largest IT companies, TCS and Infosys have their operations in Technopark. TCS currently have their training center, and soon they are setting up their Development Center in Technopark. India’s third largest IT company, HCL is also setting up their own campus in Technopark phase III. Technopark authorities revealed that worlds largest IT giants IBM and Oracle are in talks with Technopark to set up shop here.

Technopark to host Kerala Google Technology User Group Launch

Kerala chapter of Google Technology User Group (GTUG) will be launched on 10th April 2010 Saturday at Technopark.

There will be informative technical sessions by Anash Oommen, Developer Programs Engineer Google, among others, on various topics like Chrome Extension APIs, Orkut/OpenSocial APIs, Chrome OS, tools for the web developers and BigTable – the backend behind the Google Services.

Tech life – health awareness week in Technopark

GTech is organizing a health awareness week in Technopark this week. It has started from 5th of April 2010 and will go on till 9th of April 2010. Tech life is organized by Gtech in co-ordination with Technopark and KIMS hospital. GTech is the Group of Technopark companies headed by V.K Mathews, Chairman and CEO of IBS Plc in Technopark. GTech is a strategic Grouping of IT & ITeS Companies in Kerala.

Tech Life is aimed at ensuring the well being of IT professionals in Technopark. Tech life was inaugurated by Dr. Vijayaraghavan on the 5th of April 2010.

Each day of the Tech life program is dedicated to a topic. on 7th it is Mind day, 8th it is Hypertension day and on 9th it is Diabetes day.

Each day there will be interactions with eminent doctors.

The highlight of Mind day is interaction with India’s renowned Psychologist, Dr. Santhosh Babu at Travancore Hall from 4.00 pm. There will also be an entertainment program by Tamil Playback Singer, Karthik on April 08, 2010 at Sangam open air auditorium from 6.30 pm.

Every day specialist doctors will be available for consultation from 12 noon till 2 pm at the Atrium of Nila and Bhavani. HCL Technologies to start R&D center in Technopark

Technopark As the clouds of recession are fading out and the prospects of IT sector is getting brightened up, Indian IT major HCL Technologies is planning to start their R&D center in Technopark. Other 2 giants in the Indian IT industry, TCS and Infosys are already present in Technopark.

Talks are on with Technopark and HCL for 2 acres of land in Technopark phase III to develop HCL Technologies campus in Technopark.

TCS have started developing their campus in Technopark phase I. TCS have got SEZ status for their new campus. Infosys is already a strong player in Technopark both with their own campus and Bhavani and Thejaswini buildings in Technopark.

Prospects of IT sector in Trivandrum is bright with development of upcoming Technopark phase III and Technocity.

Tech a break 2010 final results – IBS company of the year

Tech a break 2010 concluded in Technopark with a colorful fashion show. IBS won the company of the year. Allianz Cornhill is first runner up and NeST is second runner up.

In this sixth edition of Tech a break, it was fierce competition between the Technopark companies. Techies of various companies in Technopark added color and enthusiasm to the festivities. It was a fun filled week for all in Technopark.
