Onam Release Malayalam Movies for 2010

Keralites welcome Onam 2010 without any new movie releases from Malayalee’s favorite Mega Stars, Mammootty and Mohanlal. This is because Onam falls in the Ramzan fasting period, and all big releases are planned for perunnal. Going for a movie after the sumptuous Onasadhya is a cherished nostalgia of almost all Malayalees. This year there are no super star movies or big budget movies during Onam 2010.  There are a bunch of low budget movies as well as new comer’s movies releasing during this Onam season. Suresh Gopi has an Onam release movie – Kanyakumari Express.

  • Kanyakumari Express – Suresh Gopi teams up with director T.S Suresh Babu.
  • Athmakadha – Sreenivasan in the lead role with Sharbani Mukherjee
  • Pattinte Palazhi – Meera Jasmine in the lead role with Manoj K Jayan. Directed by Rajeev Anchal
  • Orange – Kalabhavan Mani and Biju Menon are in the lead role. Directorial venture of Biju Varky
  • Nirakazhcha – Manoj K Jayan and Mamta Mohandas with Italian actor Vinsen. Directed by Anish J Karinad
  • Yakshiyum Njanum – Directed by Vinayan and New comers in the lead roles
  • Neelambari – Vineeth and Bhama are in the major roles in this movie directed by Hari Narayanan
  • Chaverpada – Bala teams up with Manikkuttan in this movie
  • Three Char Sau Beas – Scripted and directed by Adoor Govindan Kutty – popular TV anchor
  • Plus Two – All new comer’s movie. In the lead role as well as direction

These films are gracing theaters during Onam season 2010 and just after Onam.

Onam Week Celebrations at Trivandrum 2010

This years Onam week celebration commences at Trivandrum on 22nd August 2010 with an inaugural function at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium. Kamal Hassan is likely to be the chief guest at the inaugural function. Chandrasekharan Nair stadium will be the hub of Onam week celebration as with previous years. Kanakakkunnu Palace will be the focus of the celebrations with six venues where cultural programs and performance of traditional art forms of Kerala will be performed. Onam week celebration at Trivandrum will come to and end with a colorful procession on 28th August 2010 evening. There will be a food festival and a trade fair at The Suryakanthi grounds. The other venues of the cultural programs include Poojappura Maidanam, Theerthapada Mandapam, Sreevarahom, Akkulam, VJT Hall and Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan.

Main attractions of Onam week celebration includes Classical music and dance events, Ganamela, Kathaprasangam ,  Kalaripayattu and various folk art events. Apart from the official Government sponsored events, there will be trade fairs conducted by various private institutions at different locations in Trivandrum. Most of the famous restaurants and hotels in Trivandrum are participating in the food festival at Suryakanthi grounds.

Square One Talents, managed by an all women team is conducting a trade fair at Pattom, Spring Garden Buildings. This includes shopping festival of garments as well as a food festival. The food festival at Square One Talents offers ethnic food items and delicacies.
