Microsoft Introduces New Windows based phone – KIN

Microsoft Corp. announced KIN, a new Windows® based Smartphone  targeting youth active in social networking. KIN will be available in the US in May through partnerships with Verizon Wireless, Vodafone and Sharp Corporation. KIN is designed to provide cutting edge social experience that blends the phone, online services and the PC with breakthrough new experiences called the Loop, Spot and Studio. It is not clear at present when the KIN will be available in India.

KIN will be available in 2 versions – KIN ONE and KIN TWO. Both these are touch-screen phones and KIN One is a short, square-shaped handset  and KIN Two, a longer, more rectangular phone.

Both KINs are black with multi touch. KIN One has a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out from the bottom, while the KIN Two has a full QWERTY keyboard that comes out from its side.

KINs include WiFi and higher-resolution cameras than most handsets.The Kin One will include a 5 mega pixel camera, while the Kin Two will have a 8 mega pixel camera with image stabilization. The Kin Two will also be capable of shooting HD video.These phones doesn’t have expandable memory; instead, the phones will upload content to the cloud an online storage service.

With the introduction of KIN, the smart phone space is getting more competitive with much greater choice for consumers.

Microsoft have not announced the price of KIN so far.

Nokia announced their lowest cost 3G enabled phone in India. The latest Nokia 2730 Classic phone with 3G is available for around Rs. 4,500. The phone supports 3G with maximum download speed of 384Kbps. It has full html browsing to offer better customer experience.

With the recent launch of 3G service by BSNL, this affordable phone from Nokia will help more customers to enjoy latest features. This phone can also be used as a data modem, allowing laptops and PCs to connect to Internet in 3G speed with the data cable shipped with the phone.

The Nokia 2730 classic phone supports around 3.5 hours talk time on 3G network and  around 430 hours standby time on 3G network. The phone weighs around 88 grams. The memory of the phone can be extended to maximum 2GB with microSD card. It has 30MB internal memory as well. The phone has 2 Mega pixel camera with 4x digital zoom. It supports video recording in 3gp format. The Nokia 2730 Classic 3G phone supports email with attachments.

At an affordable cost below 5000 and the already available 3G service from BSNL, the Nokia 2730 classic 3G enabled phone will enable more people to access advanced technology.

NRI business man B R Shetty buys two floors at Burj Dubai

Dr. B R Shetty, the managing director and CEO of Abu Dhabi’s first multi-speciality healthcare facility, New Medical Centre (NMC) and the UAE Exchange now owns 100th and 142nd floors of Burj Khalifa, worlds tallest building. Burj Khalifa in Dubai,  is the most sought after address in the world now. B R Shetty, originally from Mangalore, Karnataka has got strong ties with Kerala. He has chosen  Kochi as the head office of UAE Exchange. Dr. Shetty, famous for his philanthropy activities was conferred Padma Sri in 2009.

Shetty has spent around Rs. 122 crores to buy the property in Burj Khalifa. Shetty bought the space for Dirham 3,000 (Rs 38,000) per sqft in Burj Khalifa. Even in the recessionary times, he has got offers up to 12000 Dirham for the property. He said he wouldn’t sell the property for any amount.

UAE Exchange was established in 1980 in UAE. It is now one of the world leading money exchange companies in the world. Shetty employs around 10,000 people in his various businesses. Shetty will take procession of the property in February. It will surely be a proud moment for him.
