Kochi wins IPL team

As a dream come true for cricket fans of Kerala, Kochi wins a team for the Indian Premier League. Rendezvous Sports emerged as a surprise winner for the Kochi team in the IPL auction conducted in Chennai on Sunday. Their winning bid was for Rs. 1333.33 crores.

Meanwhile Pune also won an IPL team. Sahara was the highest bidder in the Chennai auction, and they have chosen Pune as their home team. With the Pune team, Maharashtra has two teams for the IPL.

It was Shashi Tharoors efforts led to the victory of winning a team for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rendezvous Sports is led by Shailendra Gaekwad and Vivek Venugopal. Apart from Rendezvous Sports, the consortium has Parini Developers, Anand Shah Estate, Anchor Earth Pvt Ltd and Film Waves.

Kochi team will participate in 2011 IPL matches. Kerala Cricket Association is keen on completing the stadium in Edakochi in 2011 itself. Cricket lovers from Kerala are upbeat about the IPL Kochi team.
